We are new to St. Pete and we love a great fish fry (fish & chips) and are so happy we found Jack's! Admittedly, when we got out of the car I was hesitant to take our newborn in because it looked a little more like a bar than a restaurant. Glad we ventured inside...it was mostly restaurant booths and tables :) So, back to the fish...which is how we found Jack's on yelp: Most fried fish we try has that gray underside(skin)...not Jack's, thank goodness! It was served piping hot from the kitchen... everything was super fresh. (You can tell when frying grease is old...this was not.) The fries are steak fries, which we like... And the tartar sauce is home-made and delicious. We also couldn't pass up trying the fried portobello mushrooms...they were cut into spears and were AWESOME! Also, we are big on service, and the guy taking care of us was great. Jack's is our new go-to fish place for sure, but we are excited to try the other dishes.

Well I came in a grabbed a few appetizers and a couple of beers... Roast beef sliders, were quite tasty and juicy. Scotch Egg could have been cook a bit more for my liking, outside of breading need a bit more color and the egg yolks where not cook enough for me, but flavorful nonetheless. I didn't care for the mustard sauce and opted to used HP sauce for it as well. Chips and gravy exactly what you'd expect. Great beers here too, just wish more people would support local brews a bit more ( they did carry Coppertail and Bold City both Florida beers but nothing from any of ours here in St Pete) Overall a very pleasant surprise and will be back!

Don't judge a book by its cover. This is a hidden gem. Best British fare in town; and, yes, I've been to Moon Under Water on several occasions over the years. Jack's is quaint with an authentic pub feel and ample natural light. The staff is friendly and hardworking. They have a large and varied menu including different meat, poultry and seafood items. The have a delicious homemade desert menu including bread pudding and custards. They have several drafts and bottled beers to choose from, including some local selections. Jack's came with a high recommendation from a trusted source. I have visited at lunch and dinner times. Most of their food items are classic British dishes with a gourmet twist. I've tried their special Lentil Curry, Shepard's Pie, and Leak, Brie, Chicken Pie. All were fresh, savory, flavorful and priced appropriately. They have a daily special that is included on their small plate menu where from noon until 6:30pm you can have a reduced sized portion along with a house salad and bread (both were a delightful fresh and tasty surprise for a British pub-style restaurant) and a side of perfectly cooked mixed vegetables for only $7.99. Also, included in this small plate menu are other favorites like Bangers & Mash, Shepard's Pie, and a few others. Great deal! Great stop in NE St. Pete for lunch or an early dinner! My only complaint is that they appear to be running low on wait staff. Even with that complaint my needs were met in a timely manner and with a smile.

This business can do no wrong in my opinion. The service is extremely fast, the atmosphere is quiet/ calm and very welcoming. I have had many items from this menu and everything has been phenomenal. I had the opportunity to meet the Chef/Owner who is a classically trained and very friendly chef. This business often has trivia nights and things of that nature. Check this place out guys its fantastic.

So, wow. My friend and I came here finally for lunch. And we absolutely left stuffed and happy. The atmosphere is verbatim of a real London Pub. Very cool! Incredible choices for craft beers from different countries. Our server was very nice and was prompt with our orders. My friend had the lunch portion of Fish N Chips with salad. She liked that it's a full filet of fish and not just a small piece with the chips. Very flaky and tender! I ordered the Shepard's Pie with veggies. And boy, was it great. The pie had mashed potatoes, cheese, corn, peas, and carrots. The side veggies were sliced thick and sautéed, and were perfectly cooked. I can't wait to come back and try more food!

There's just so much flavor in the food here. We started off with onion rings. It was crunchy, light and you could actually taste the beer in their batter. I ordered Shepard's Pie, which was heavenly. Before they sat it down on the table, I could smell it and continued to do so for the next minute. It's a heavy dish loaded with lots of meat and mashed potatoes. $10 = a steal. BF had the Fishermans Platter, which is like Shrimp n' Chips with a side [of coleslaw]. The breading seems like the same one from the onion rings. Lovedddd the coleslaw. Though it was a bit overpriced ($13) but it was still pleasant. The restaurant itself is very clean and the staff was attentive. Overall, we enjoyed all the food. Whole meal cost about $28. Oh, please bring back the pasty! My boyfriend wants to try it so bad but the server informed us it's been off the menu for months. We'll give two pairs of arms and legs to be able to try it here.

Since we just moved to St Pete, I am all about trying all of the super cool local places around our neighborhood. There are so many local joints, this tasting escapade will keep me occupied for years! We were craving Fish and Chips, and that is exactly Jack's London Grill's specialty, so we just had to visit. The fish piece is massive, appeared to be almost 14 ounces--- wrapped in newsprint on top of a bed of chips. The fish is beer battered and tender on the inside, crispy on the outside. My only complaint is that there was a layer of uncooked white goo between the fish and the crispy exterior, causing it to fall apartment in my hands and leave me a saddened fat girl. The house-made tartar sauce is a nice touch, but the malt vinegar on the table is even better. There is definitely no skimping on the condiments, even the ketchup was the name brand stuff in the glass bottle. Just keeping it real. The special of the day was the Pub Curry. I have never had British style curry before, but if this was a representation, I don't think I'll proceed in the future. My order was dry pieces of cubed breast meat, red potatoes, and spinach in a bland creamy sauce around a scoop of yellow rice. Maybe I was just expecting more curry flavor... It is difficult to find an entrée at Jack's under $10.00, even when we went at lunch time. There are so many items left on the menu to try, but I am too worried about dropping major dough to come here--- so I'll just stay away. Too bad because the atmosphere is awesome. A bit too expensive for what is was, in my little option.

Stopped by Jack's during happy hour and was pleasantly surprised. A local business that channels the UK in every way possible. We met the owner who was also doing some of the cooking and it was clear to us that he was passionate about his work and took pride in his establishment. Jack's offers a large assortment of beer and a number of traditional English pub favorites, such as fish and chips, bangers and mash and a Scotch egg. The food was delicious and we will most definitely be back.

We came here as we were in the area and looks to be highly recommended by locals. If I could give 3.5 stars I would. The menu was very decently priced and had a lot of great British meals. I ordered the roast beef sliders which were delicious. My husband ordered the whole roast beef sandwich which was also very delicious. We enjoyed the steak cut fries. However I ordered the house salad which I was disappointed that the lettuce was brown and that they would serve that. The house dressing was good. The service was not that great. We asked what the beer specials were and the lady didn't seem to know but it said there were craft beer specials on Saturdays but we ordered craft beer and did not receive any kind of special. As we were leaving on the outside they said they had 2 craft beers for only $4 which were never mentioned to is when we asked what kind of craft beer they had. The food was good but still have some work on the service and knowing what specials they run and what beer they have for their customers.

I think this might be our second home. Went last night for a couple beers and a snack and ended up with a few beers and dinner! The lovely and talented Julie was on duty, not only serving the dining room, but keeping an eye on us at the bar and training 2 people at once. She's great, So we had a boddingtons and a pilsner to start and then tried their soup of the day. A yummy creamy curried chicken concoction ($4.99) delicious. Also had the onion rings, lightly battered and served with a sweet chili sauce ($3.99) best rings around. A black and tan or two later on to dinner. He had the fisherman pot pie with lobster, ($12.99)scallops and fish in a creamy lobster sauce. Was really good! I thought it was going to be a heavy white sauce but it was a cheesy light lobster sauce, I got his leftovers for lunch today. I had the roast beef sandwich served on a thick bread with grilled onions and a mayo mix. served with fries ($8.99) and a side of gravy for me ($1 upcharge) Always a fav for me. Plenty of good food, great service , 5 beers and a tab of $59. What a deal!

We've been a couple times in the last month or so and have really enjoyed the food. I'm a sucker for good fish and chips and there's is really good. I especially like the tarter sauce! The lamb dinner is good (so I'm told, I don't eat lamb)! Great place for a tasty meal with great prices!

Jack's London Grill may not look like much on the outside, but it is amazing on the inside. From the bar feel of the inside to the 80's rock music to the multiple tv's, this restaurant is definitely welcoming and nostalgic. I haven't even mentioned the best part yet....the food. I have had a pretty decent sampling of the Jack's London Grill menu and my favorites are as follows. Appetizers: Baked Brie and Irish Fries. My favorite entrees are the Fish and Chips and the Chicken Curry (which they often have as a special). Speaking of specials, they always have one. Make sure you ask them what the daily special is! If you have room for dessert, the Apple Cumble Pie and Cream is decadent. I haven't had a chance to try any of the other desserts yet, but I am sure they are delicious too. In my many visits I have yet to find something that I don't like. I definitely recommend Jack's London Grill!

We finally tried Jack's this evening and what a treat! We got onion rings, Brie pie, French onion soup and fish and chips finished off with bread pudding. By far and wide, the best fish and chips I've ever had. This place is an absolute gem! The kindest and most knowledgable wait staff, our server was a delight! We also had the privilege of meeting the owner/chef who was just as warm and kind as you would imagine. We can't wait to make this place a regular spot for our family!

Nice little British Pub. They have lots of traditional dishes to choose from. Looks like this place is really popular. We ordered two dishes where I rate one higher than other. My French Onion Soup ($4.99) was really flavorful and good, even though it had a bit too much crunchy bread in it. However my husbands lamb shank was very, very bland, and a bit too greasy. The gravy was also bland. I liked the mashed potatoes though, but I always do! In my opinion the lamb shank was not worth $12 or so. They also serve some interesting British beers. Worth to try.

Worth 98 mile round trip! We drove to the Pub today and were amazed! My husband rates their French Onion soup #1 and he is trying it everywhere. I had the Chicken and brie pie.. I wish I had more to take home but ate every morsel. We will be back.

Yelp reviewers are right on the money with this place. After a Rays game, we were hungry and wanting to try something new to us. Friendly knowledgeable service and a chef who cares about what is coming out of the kitchen. I had the chicken curry which came with a nicely prepared side salad. My husband had a steak & ale pie. Both dishes were very good. We splurge and tried the bread pudding. Yum! Good beer selection and great prices. This place deserves your support.

I've been meaning to write a review for Jack's for a while now. This is the best British style food in St Pete and at much better prices than their competitors. Fish 'n Chips at Three Birds is $17.99 and arguably not as tasty as here. It's very apparent that everything is homemade with fresh, quality ingredients and close attention to detail by the friendly owner, Peter. The servers are always friendly, knowledgable and helpful. They offer lunch specials daily until 6pm which includes smaller portions of some of their signature dishes for extremely reasonable prices. Their daily specials change daily (of course) but are always so good and you'll come back craving the awesome dish you had last time that may not still be served if it wasn't on the actual menu. Though they're very open to customer comments and feedback and if they have the ingredients in house, will usually happily accommodate special requests. They had a chicken curry on special once that they made without chicken for me. They're accommodating to vegetarian customers and other dietary restrictions. My boyfriend and I especially love their: Shepherd's Pie French Onion Soup Melty Gooey Brie Cheese Pastry (adjectives added by me ) Fish n Chips Sausage Rolls Cre me Brûlée Apple Crumble Needless to say, I'm a fan and definitely recommend checking this place out!

We enjoy this little pub. They always have a nice beer selection. My favorite item to order is the bree for 2. It is a baked pastry shell with melting bree inside. The fish and chips are good and very filling. Service is good and always the same people there.

Amazing food. We had the Irish fries, brie, chips, Shepherd pie, steak and ale pie, and fish and chips. Nothing was below fantastic. I could not be happier with the fries. The Guinness was poured properly and the service was incredibly friendly and helpful. The owner/cook was very generous with portions and even gave us some free appetizers. There is no doubt in my mind, I will be back for more.

I think about this place on a weekly basis. It's that good. Best fish and chips I've ever had. I dream about the batter. It's light and crunchy, but not greasy. Fish on the inside is cooked perfectly every time - light and flavorful. Paired with the homemade tartar sauce, this dish melts in my mouth every time. I'm so in love with the fish and chips that it's been hard to venture from it. One night I tried the beer battered and fried mahi sandwich special, which was also awesome too. For dessert, I've only had the creme brûlée, but it was made very well. Cue drooling. The staff is friendly and service of food is just right. The owner makes it a point to say hello to customers when he's not in the kitchen. Probably the best British joint in the area. Go now!

Best value in town. Chef's curries are fab. Fish and chips make you think you are in a London Pub. And the poached pear dessert is heavenly. Service is always top drawer.

K: Hey, you should go check out this place! T: Okay, one of these days... A week or two later we ended up at Jack's. First off, this used to be some mediocre Italian place. Before that I think it was a Pizza Hut... You know that odd building shape when you see it. The interior is clean enough but nothing special; the service was average at best. The menu seemed promising, but was a little bit of a let down. The scotch eggs still don't beat Crowley's in downtown St. Pete. They lacked the crispness I was hoping for, but otherwise the flavor was okay. We also split an order of onion rings, and they weren't especially memorable. They came with a small cup of sweet Thai chili sauce (very similar if not the same as some of the products you can find at an Asian market), which was different but still didn't make it a winner for me. We also sampled a couple sweets - an apple crumble thing and a crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was fine; I can't fault them on that one. The apple thing unfortunately reminded me of canned/jarred pie filling. The fruit was in a very thick "sauce" (you know what I mean if you've ever seen or used pre-made pie filling) and the crumble part lacked the texture I expected. Overall, I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come back here. If one of my friends said they wanted to meet here, I would probably go.

Great food at really reasonable prices. We attended a Dr Who trivia night last week, which was just loads of fun on its own. I ordered the lamb shank, which was the special that night at the unbelievable price of $12.99. The shank was really tender and flaked right off the bone. It was served over mashed potatoes with a Guinness gravy & seasonable veggies. Very good! Our waiter gave us excellent service, even on the really busy trivia night. Definitely adding Jack's London Grill to our list of favorites!

Delicious English food! I always get the fish and chips and the French onion soup. Their batter is light and crispy, the tartar sauce is fresh! They have specials everyday of the week!

In a city with many international cuisines to choose from, Jack's holds its own with traditional British pub fare. Tried and recommended were the Chicken Brie and Leek pie with mixed vegetables as a side and Fish and Chips. The chicken was tender, the puff pastry flakey and the Brie/sauce was delectable. Traditional fish and chips is served wrapped in newspaper and paying homage is served at Jack's in faux newsprint wrapping. The star was by far the fish. Beer battered, tender, flavorful, and crispy. Homemade tarter sauce was an amazing accompaniment. Will definitely eat here again to try more menu items.

My husband and I love this place. The brie appetizer is fabulous. I usually get the chicken, brie, and leek pie... It's a puff pastry filled with deliciousness. The fish n chips is outstanding, as is the club sandwich and shepherd's pie.

Not sure why we never stumbled upon this spot before! When you walk in you are greeted by whichever server happens to be flying out of the kitchen, and you pick where you want to sit. On a Friday night at 7pm we were easily able to snag seats. The interior is decorated with cute British signs and pictures. After being greeted and ordering a couple beers our server recited an extensive list of specials for the night. We were stumped on what to order. Started with the baked brie appetizer. It was so good, we inhaled it in less than a minute. The puff pastry was crisp and the cheese was perfectly gooey - paired with a light balsamic reduction and pesto...freaking good stuff. After reading the reviews I felt that I had to give the fish and chips a try, and I made the right choice. The batter on the fish was crisp and the tang of their homemade tartar sauce sealed the deal. The boyfriend had trouble deciding on what to order and after changing his mind five times, he got the steak and ale pie and was in heaven. Great prices, cool spot and good food - we will absolutely be back.

We stopped in for a late lunch and loved it! The server was very good and attentive. My fiancé got fish and chips and I ordered the shepherd's pie. All of it was wonderful. The server even brought out some freshly made crisps with Stilton dip. Very yummy!! The decor was eclectic and fun as well. The owner/head chef even told us about their trivia nights. We will definitely return.

This place is a little piece of English heaven right here in St. Petersburg. The staff is super friendly, the beer is cold and varied, and the food is made with the freshest ingredients. I can highly recommend the Brie to Share appetizer. It is perfectly gooey, encased in pastry, and drizzled with balsamic. So good. I also tried the Brighton Butty (a monstrous fish sandwich) and the Farm House Garden Sandwich (tomato, basil, goat cheese, olives, lettuce, and a balsamic reduction) was one of the best vegetarian sandwiched I have ever eaten. They offer trivia on Tuesdays and happy hour is from Noon-6:30 daily. This little gem doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside it is a London/sandwich/beer/trivia lover's dream.

The good: The food was ok to good. 3 out of 5. Suffices if you're hungry. I had the chicken pastry. It was satisfying because I was starving... But nothing to shake a stick at. My date had the stuffed fish. It was just ok. Beer selection is good. The bad: Nothing horrible about the place. Not the cleanest. Nothing that really made it stand out one way or another. Service was mediocre.

I've been to Jacks a number of times now. I've had the Sheppard's Pie as well as the fish n chips, both are great! The building used to be a Pizza Hut. They could use more seating. The word is getting out about this place.

Chef Peter's new restaurant is so amazing! We used to go to the Toasted Pheasant years ago in north Tampa. We left the state and heard that Chef had sold the restaurant. We moved back and were wondering what he was up to. A quick search on Google and we found his new restaurant. And the food is perfect (of course!). We will be coming back weekly to have his wonderful creations. Best food in Tampa Bay! His fish and chips are scrumptious and the Lamb Shank is to die for.

We are visiting St. Pete for the holidays, but were looking for a spot to catch the last half of the LSU/Notre Dame game. This place is right near where we're staying, so we decided to give it a shot. Food: Absolutely outstanding. I had the bangers and mash, my daughter had the kids' fish and chips, and my husband had the chicken and lentil curry. All were very flavorful and the portion sizes were perfect; not too huge, but still plenty for one person. The food was better than many of the pubs we've been to in the UK, and definitely better than any English fare stateside. We finished our meal with the bread pudding. It was a warm, sweet (but not overly sweet) creation topped with homemade whipped cream. It was absolutely delightful and I highly recommend it. Service: Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and went out of his way to give us a good experience, even though we were not ideal customers. My 3 year old daughter was being exceptionally whiny and we managed to shatter a pepper shaker, but he was impeccably professional and friendly throughout. When my husband asked for hot sauce, which you wouldn't expect to find in an English pub, the waiter informed us that they didn't have any. However, he returned a couple of minutes later with a cup of excellent hot sauce from the chef's private stash. He also took the time to not just explain the specials and desserts to us, but to give us recommendations. Ambiance: This building has housed many restaurants over the years, according to my mother in law, but it works well as an English pub. The inside has a Tudor feel to it, and the walls are covered with English tchotchkes and decorations. There are 2 TVs in the seating area and 1 larger TV in the bar, all flat screen HD TVs. The music selection was great as well; think Morrissey and The Cure. The place is in great shape and has a cozy feel without being oppressively dark. Overall, I was very impressed with this place. If we lived in St. Pete I would be here at least once a week if not more. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for English fare or just wanting to unwind with a pint.

This place was better than it looks from the outside. I thought we were going to experience pub food, but this was a gourmet dining experience. Everything made from scratch. Grouper with lobster cream sauce was superb. The meat on the lamb schenk was falling off the bone and tender. The beer selection was unique and tasty. I highly highly recommend this mom pop joint. It's indeed tasty and reasonably priced for the high quality production. They outdid themselves. Bravo!

Moon Under Water, to me, officially has some amazing British cuisine competition in "The Burg." I went there on a Wednesday...which just happened to be $1 off the dinner portion of their Fish and Chips. I was there for lunch, but who could pass that up? Not this guy. I also ordered their Scotch Egg which I have never heard of nor even thought that mix would be good. Let me tell you something, my dear yelp-review-reading-friends, everything was SPOT on. Granted I don't have a culinary background in anything British related, but what I had was so goddamn good that I suppose I can claim to be now ;) "A Scotch egg consists of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in bread crumbs and baked." - thanks wikipedia! The Scotch Egg was perfectly fried and not too greasy served with a mustardy-type sauce...I slathered that on everything even the aforementioned Fish and Chips. I cut the egg in half to check it out and my eyes started drooling. This taste-rich appetizer was gone in no time flat. The fish portion of the meal, as it were, was perfectly, and I mean PERFECTLY fried. Not a single burn mark or soggy bit to mention. The breading on it was so light and crispy that I didn't even need a knife to get it from the plate to my mouth; the side of my fork was more than sufficient. The accompanying fries were also on-point. I had ordered a bit of brown gravy to go with it so I could also sneak in a bit of "chips and gravy" into my gluttonous meal. So as for sauces, I had the brown gravy, the mustardy-sauce from the scotch egg and the tartar sauce from the fish and chips. I was in condiment heaven. The mustard sauce was definitely the stand-out here but only because I'm a mustard freak. The tartar sauce (and I don't usually like tartar sauce) also ranked surprisingly high on my condiment-rating-scale. The gravy took a back seat to my dipping agenda of the fish and chips but was still good. The location itself is in a "why would I go there to eat?" part of town but it's worth the trip. Well worth the trip. This place has earned the coveted Yelp 5 Star rating from me at least and I'm sure you'll agree.

If I lived in the area, this would be my happy place for food. I had the fresh chips with stilton dip and the mahi mahi sandwich special. My husband had bangers and mash. Fresh and delicious. The chips were probably the best I'd ever eaten, warm and just rightly crispy and seasoned. The stilton dip was to die for. I had to have the recipe and Pete gave it to me. I can't wait to try it myself, but it probably won't be nearly as good as Pete's. The mahi sandwich was on a delicious bun and had a side of a peanut chili sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I should have gotten that recipe too. I've never been a big fish eater, but I'm trying to eat more and honestly, if I could have fish this good, I would eat it every day. The onion ring that topped my sandwich was light and delicious too. I wish I had time to go back and try many things on the menu. We had lunch specials and it was not that expensive. I would love to try the Shepherd's pie and many other things. If you're in St. Pete/Pinellas Park, go to Jack's London Grill. You will not be sorry. And please don't let the fact that it looks like a former Pizza Inn fool you. It is wonderful. Service was great too.

So delicious! Ate here for the third time tonight! My favorite is the pork. Jacks can cook it anyway, it doesn't matter it's delicious! The servers are awesome and so is the Yorkshire pudding! The Chicken, Brie and leek pie is also amazing! Don't forget to snag a creme brûlée for desert, had the blue berry brûlée special tonight. I'll be dreaming of it! Jacks also carries my grandfathers favorite beer which is extraordinary because it's an N/A! Seriously worth a stop.

We will definitely go back!

My wife and I had wanted to try Jack's for awhile and finally made it on a Friday night just after the dinner rush. There were a few patrons at the bar and one large table but we had our pick of the remaining tables so we sat at a booth. We ordered the bri as the appetizer and it was the best I have had. Very tasty. For our entrees my wife had the fish and chips and I had the mahi special. Both were fresh and tasty! They were out of pears so we didn't have dessert but a great reason to return! Would recommend for a casual night out for beers and good food.

Just ate there for a graduation dinner...first time eating "British" food! Highly recommended! Yummy appetizer sausage rolls made fresh to order...Shepard's pie to die for, and the biggest fish fillets I've ever seen! We had a large party and the owner/chef even personally thanked us for coming...Great find!

Not much from the outside. But after reading the reviews, I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did.

Fish and chips that rivaled Wholey's in Pittsburgh. I know this is a British joint, but I haven't ever tasted fish I like better than Wholey's...or Benkovitz. Battered perfectly, light and flaky. Ample serving. All good! This was a fun evening. The menu is interesting and priced fairly. We will be back -- because it is too far to the 'burgh.

The happy hour special is such a good deal! You get a lunch size meal (but it was just the perfect amount for a female like me) for only $7.99. It came with main dish, salad, and bread. My husband had the fish and chips and I had a special (fish/shrimp in lobster sauce over pasta). Delicious! You could tell the bread was homemade and very fresh. What a nice surprise to find a place that is both yummy and affordable! I docked one star because, although the British decorations are well done, it still slightly has the feeling of an older, prior Pizza Inn establishment. The waiter was excellent too. Will be back! And will keep telling people others because I don't want to see a great restaurant close up in St Pete.

Heard great things about this place before and so decided to check it out today for lunch. It's a small place willed with booths and tables. There's also a bar where my husband and I decided to sit. We ordered scotch egg and Brie-filled pastry to split. Loved the egg! It's the best one I've had in the States. Brie was very good too. I only wish there was more sauce on the plate or a raspberry jam served with it. I ordered bangers and mash and they didn't disappoint. Great tasting sausages and fluffy mashed potatoes. Yummy veggies on the side as well. My Husband (who is British) ordered roast beef. He was "blown away" with it. He loved every bite and has stated that he "can't wait to go back to try more dishes." The chef came out from the kitchen and greeted us, asking how everything was. It was a nice touch and was well appreciated. He's also the owner, so it was very nice to meet him and give him our feedback. We will definitely be back.

Best British pub food I've found in the area! The staff are very friendly and the decor is simple but with a comfortable atmosphere. My husband had the fish & chips, which he raved about, and I had sliders & fries, which were delish! We plan to go back soon to try the Sunday special, roast with Yorkshire pudding!

I am on my second visit and it is better than the first! I tried the fish n chips on my first visit. It was the best I've had. Today I had the duck and my partner had a mahi sandwich. Wow! Just get here and try this place out!! Did I mention the chocolate mousse?

What a gem this place is off the beaten path in st. Pete. all handmade ingredients, and the hand battered portabello mushrooms were excellent. Definately a destination dining place.

Stopped into Jack's London Grill today with my daughter for lunch. I have been craving some good Shepherds pie and my daughter is always up for Fish and Chips. This is my first visit to this establishment and I must say that from reading the rave reviews here and elsewhere online, I was ready for a great experience. This small restaurant is very clean and tidy with a small bar at the front with about 8-10 bar stools and then a dining room with seating for about 20-30 guests. Today the place was near empty when we arrived, but people trickled in during our visit. Our server/bartender was very attentive. Although I must say that I asked about the daily or Noon to 7 PM Happy hour specials I knew they advertised on the website and he did not mention anything that Jack's had posted on their Friday specials on the Facebook page. I was set on trying the Shepherds Pie and Daughter was good with Fish and Chips so no harm no foul. I was surprised when our server explained that the daily Lunch Special Shepherds pie was very small and would not be enough for me to eat, so he talked me into spending the full amount for the dinner version. Then he asked if my daughter wanted the lunch special on the fish & chips and we both said yes, and he then went on to say how big the fish fillet was. His entire presentation was very good and friendly, but we did say what we wanted, and I am a bit confused about a place who advertises a "Special" for lunch, but then just gives you less than the normal portion. i.e. then it is no longer a "Special" is it? It is just less of the same thing and your profit margin is the same, my meal is just smaller. That is called a Lunch portion, not a Lunch Special, in my book. I also ordered the beer special of the day Newcastle brown ale $3.00 per bottle. The food came to the table in a prompt time frame and my daughter was well pleased with her Fish & Chips which indeed was a large Haddock Fillet fried right with beer batter. My Shepherds pie (Which was confirmed to have at least a portion of Lamb within by our server) did not seem to be very warm, nor was it seasoned particularly well. (I suppose I have been spoiled by the Shepherds pies I have had in Cambridge Mass and Boston, where the topping of Mash is steaming hot and when you break through that fluffy layer of goodness the filling is also steaming and bubbly with a beautiful gravy. Today, my Shepherds pie did not resemble that at all, and if I had to guess, I received the lunch portion and not the full meal portion as I was upsold to. The veggies inside the meat filling seemed to be a simple canned or frozen peas and carrots mixture that was still crunchy as if it had not been cooked into the filling for very long. This may be how Jack's does it, but in my experience elsewhere, the vege's should be fresh and cooked just enough to be part of the experience of yummy. Young daughter had a nail appointment next door and left me to finish my meal and sip a few Newcastle brown ales while she got her paint and wax job... The entire place was very pleasant, the bartender although a young man, seemed very well trained in customer service and quite affable. The owner stepped out of the kitchen a few times and also seemed friendly. I will go back to try something else next time, but the thing that really got me in the end as being a bit - well, not all quite right? Is that they charged the upcharge on the Fish & Chips special for a full meal along with my selection. I was expecting that on my meal, but not on the daughters. Could be a simple mistake and really , as nice as they are, I am sure that it was... next time I will look at my bill more closely before I sign the receipt however...

Absolutely delicious! Started with baked Brie which was very good, baked inside of puffed pastry (only 4.99!), but next time I'll be asking for more balsamic to cut the fattiness. Then the boyfriend and I split the fish and chips and the shepherds pie (which included lamb shank, both only 10.99).. Wow! We'll definitely be coming back soon to try more menu items and check out a happy hr.

A couple of friends and I decided to go Jack's London Grill to celebrate a birthday. I've been to Jack's a few times and have always had great service and mouth watering food. I suggested it today to celebrate my friends birthday. I thought my friends would enjoy the food and atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken, Brie and Leek Pie. One friend ordered the Steak and Ale Pie. Then we split both pies between us. I was happy I got to eat my two favorite meals on their menu. My other friend ordered the fish and chips. She didn't share at all. Honestly, I think if I had stuck my hand anywhere near her plate she would have stabbed me with her fork. ;-) The food was delicious as always. We left feeling very full. The portion size is more than enough. I have to make special mention about the sautéed vegetables that came with our pies. They were so good my friend and I ate them first. I like vegetables but these were outstanding. So much so my friend and I had to compliment the chef when he came into the dinning room. We'll be back. Next time I think we'll be bringing some people from our office.

We were in St Petes on Thursday later than we expected and needed some tasty food and a pint. We have been to Jacks on several occasions and so looked forward to some good food and good beer. We were not disappointed - Juicy and hot Scotch egg quickly followed by another one it was so good! Then we had the nights special - Puff pastry case filled with gently poached fresh seafood in a light white wine cream sauce. Divine full of taste, freshness and pleasure. Thanks again Jack's.

Highly recommend this restaurant! Great food and exceptional service. Try the fish and chips! Nightly specials vary and are all wonderful, the chicken curry is out of this world good, black and blue steak, chips and blue cheese dip, And sausage rolls, fish special etc. Worth a drive, always have ice cold beer , many varieties and a decent selection of wines.

This is one of the most overrated yelp spots I've ever been to. This place isn't even close to 4 1/2 stars. The food is just ok, with an ok beer selection and overpriced deserts. More people need to go here and to get disappointed so they can get a more accurate yelp review.

Checked this place out because a friend recommended the fish and chips, and did not disappoint. Servings are huge and everything is fresh. My parents split an entre of fish and chips and that filled them up. I had delicious shepards pie and washed it down with a shandy.

We came here on a recommendation. What a success! The yellow chicken curry special (5/27/14) was fantastic! At the table we also had the steak & ale pie, and Lord (something's) Roast Beef Sandwich - both great by all accounts. This was my first time here, and it's a fact Jack, it won't be my last. Also ran into some friends here, on their first visit that came on another friend's recommendation. This place is the jam. Service was good, but they did seem short staffed. One server working the whole restaurant this night. It was extraordinary service by that one girl, but two in the dining room is probably what was actually needed. All in all no complaints, just a comment.

JOLLY GOOD TIME and damn fine food. Can't wat to come back to try the rest of the menu. Excellent service and staff. Try the Fish & Chips and a side of brown gravy. You won't be dissapointed.

The chicken curry is better on Monday! My friend had the salmon special and couldn't make any more yummy noises than she did. It was awesome. The beers were cold and Ryan was attentive. I even brought some wild mushroom soup for lunch tomorrow. I can hardly wait!

Best fish and chips in tampa! Fantastic authentic chef from England has truly brought great food to an old Pizza Hut. I have not been for dinner or happy hour but lunch is always fantastic. I was motivated to write this review because my lunch companion thought his cod halibut special was the best thing he has eaten in a while. Food is fantastic here and service is always great. I get the fish and chips without the chips and they ways give me an extra amount of salad. Salad that comes with your lunch special is great; tomatoes, banana peppers, red onion, radicchio with a great house dressing. Prices are very good for the food you get. Portions are perfect size to be filling without feeling stuffed. Five stars because I truly cannot report one thing that didn't exceed my expectations each and every time. Can't wait to come back for happy hour!

Seriously awesome English food. Went for lunch and was very impressed. Fish & chips were great. Steak & Ale pie was out of this world. Will definitely frequent this place from now on. Service was great too, and owner even came to check on the table.

The first time I came here I ordered the Sunday roast.. I wasn't a fan of the roasted pork but the fish and chips my boyfriend had were so gooood! I had to come back the next day and order it for myself. And their roast beef sliders are pretty delish. The place is small and nice, service was good, could be friendlier but all and all this place is pretty good. The food was fresh and the fish and chips are the best! :D i dont even usually order fish and chips ever

Writing on my first visit b/c the food and service will deff take me back here for another meal. It was all stupendous :) Emily was my server, she was very friendly and attentive. I looked over the menu and contemplated all including the shrimp special written on a board that greeted me outside the door on my way in. I figured b/c this was a British themed place I couldn't go wrong with the "fish and chips" on a friday afternoon and I was right on. The fish was perfectly battered, hot and crispy. Served with steak fries over a well thought out salad with kalmata olives and a house dressing. I was very pleased with my choice over all, the location is very clean with plenty of seating. It was a bit chilly outside and inside was chilly too. The music was good but playing low, there were tv's but they weren't blaring over the music as most pubs have. They had delicious deserts on the menu that sound like a meal each but I had no room in my belly to spare after my lunch. Will have to try them next time, and it will be soon! Very happy to have this place in the neighborhood.

Shepherd's pie was good. As was the fish. chips were devoid of salt, mine over cooked to my wife's undercooked . Vegetables extremely disappointing squash was overcooked carrots were raw. overall quite clumsy. Service was very slow. My wife's wine and my beer sat empty for 20 minutes and our waiter never bothered to ask if we wanted another round.

What a nice find. I have passed by this little pub for years with out giving it a try. Glad we finally did. Very friendly staff. Very good, authentic British pub fare. Our group had the shepards pie, bangers and mash, and fish and chips. All done well. The fries could have spent a bit more time in the hot oil, tad underdone, but other than that a very good meal.

Once again, we've found ourselves back at Jack's and of course, everything is amazing! I've never been to a restaurant that consistently puts out such STEAMING HOT food! Everything! Every time! It's mind blowing! I'm scraping my bowl of French onion soup clean right now and I'm thinking of the next time we can come back! Thank you Peter for such a great restaurant!

Nice place. Good service and nice British pub feel on the inside. Don't let the outside of the building fool you, definitely a good place to check out for lunch or dinner. Had the Bangers and mash and it was pretty good. Local beers on tap too!

Came here based on the yelp reviews. We did the 2 for $30 dinner which includes 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. We ordered the onion rings and French onion soup. The taste was fine but were greasy. My husbands bangers and mash was ok. The sausage was good, but the potatoes had a weird sauce. I ordered the chicken Brie and it had no flavor at all. The worst part was the apple crumble. It was terrible not sure how you could screw that up. Food not so great, but service was decent.

Update to 5 stars: Went to Jack's a few weeks ago and they started adding a Sunday Roast - OMG - it was terrific. Now it's our go to place for Sunday dinner :) The best fish and chips and now a great Sunday roast!

The fishcakes are amazing. It must be something from my past that makes me always try the fishcakes on a British themed menu but it was worth it. I'm told the Fish and Chips are great but I will have to let you know about that after my next visit. A little off the beaten path and I had to do a u-turn to get back to the parking lot but the friendly staff made it worth while The wine is a little pricey but that's true of one of my other fave Brit bars so I guess the beer will have to do :-)

A Gem! Everything was impeccably cooked and perfectly done and delicious! I was told that the Shepherd's Pie was out of this world by my dad, who almost licked the dish clean. :) I had the Fish and Chips and the fish was HUGE but really easy to polish off and it was amazingly cooked: it was hot and flaky inside and smooth and crunchy on the outside and it had just the right amount of delicious chips that were perfect--not too oily. The menu is full of hilarious quips and not too extensive. There are sports channels around and very quiet back ground music but neither distracts from meals. The creme brulee was perfectly custard-ey with a wonderful thin layer of glaze on top and the Apple Pie with Cranberries and Creme that we took home was AMAZINGLY YUMMY! The take out food was timed perfectly for just as we were ready to leave. Jack was gracious and came out to chat and communicate with customers. We'll be back again and I am going to talk this place up!

My friends and I tried Jacks London for the first time and am so glad we did. Everything was delicious! I had the sandwich special which was mahi mahi, served on homemade bread! The fries were thick steak fries....so good! I was surprised at the artful presentation. Other orders were Fish n' Chips and Lamb Shank, all excellent reviews from my friends. The server told us about all the house made items, including the sauces, breads and such. Very friendly atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Stopped in for a bite with my mom and my kids. Didn't expect much, but was surprised. The service was friendly and quick and all of the food was delicious. Beefeater gravy had great depth of flavor, chicken curry was yummy and fish and chips were plentiful and fresh. We will be back.

We keep coming back and they keep getting better! The food from the last visit was great, the fish and chips is a must with the homemade tartar sauce. Also they have beer deals going on such as $1 off Guinness when we went. The beer selection is growing, my last beer was a saison dupont which was A+. What a great local place and awesome staff.

Fantastic place. Amazing service, great food and beer selection. TARDIS women's bathroom door!!!! I had a Bass Pale Ale that was actually served in the proper glass. The scotch egg was perfectly cooked with incredibly high quality sausage. The fish and chips were perfectly battered and super flavorful. Great experience and we WILL be back.

From the brew, to the appetizer, to the main meal, everything was delectable. I went in for the first time tonight with high hopes, and left with them too. The staff is very friendly and focused. My glass didnt go empty while I was dining. I would definitely recommend Jacks to anyone in the St. Pete area, and will definitely dine here again.

We went for lunch, first time, and we were not dissapointed! Absolutely the best fish and chips I've ever had in the St Petersburg area! The scotch eggs and the french onion soup are just out of this world... I had the most scrumptious bread pudding for dessert... The staff is great, too, friendly and attentive. We'll be coming back, for sure!

Ironically, British cuisine, not known for being great food (the most popular cuisine in London is Indian), is some of the best food in this area - I can think of 3 other British themed restaurants in St. Pete. I stopped into Jack's today (in the midst of a meeting of the British Car Club, parking lot replete with British vehicles) and enjoyed the experience. I ordered the onion rings because of the cited chili jam. They were good but not exceptionally so. On the other hand, I may have had better fish and chips in my life but I can't remember when. The crust was just right, light and tasty and the portion large. The fish also was excellent and fresh. It was supplemented with homemade tartar sauce. Although quite full by this point, I wanted to try a dessert. My server recommend the Bread Pudding but because I didn't want to overdo it, I chose the Poached Pear. It was a nice light ending to a great meal. The service was very good as well - prompt and friendly. I'm bound to return.

This is a new favorite after work spot for my friends and I. Great selection of beers available (and a waitstaff that is familiar with them), lots of delectable and shareable munchies. The scotch egg is divine and the onion rings with the chili jam are swoon worthy. Hope they stick around for a long time!

The Fish and Chips were brilliant, white and flaky on the inside and not too heavy on the outside. The poached pear was also a wonderful dessert for two. Nice change of pace for the neighborhood!

So happy to have Jacks in the neighborhood! I love supporting local businesses especially when they offer quality. The owner is the chef and he is almost always on premises. We have eaten here at least a dozen times and have tried various items and have not once left unsatisfied. My husband loves lamb and I don't cook it. A run to Jacks - problem solved. The fish and chips are always crispy and the fish fat and flakey. The beer selection isn't extensive but it is creative and cold! Wine includes the standard choices. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The decor is former pizza chain turned pub casual. The prices are very reasonable. If you're anywhere in north St. Pete you need to put Jacks on your list of regular stops.

Our second time here, and just as great as the first time! Got the Bangers and Mash today, quite good. Peter's Spotted Dick is the best in St. Pete! Prices are great. They've had different daily specials each time. I like to have different options every time we go in. I would recommend Jack's to anyone!

Omg! The onions rings are amazing! Ate here a few nights ago, and I'm still talking about them, lol! The batter is the key & ya 'll just NAILED it to PERFECTION!!! I also had the Bangers n Mash & was equally as delicious, my companion ordered the Roast Beef Sliders & he enjoyed them immensely too! The service was GREAT too, extremely friendly & fun & do a wonderful job! I'd def recommend this place to friends & Next time I am in St. Pete FL area, i'd def return! Really wonderful place :)

Fish was perfectly fried and delicious. Tartar sauce was amongst the best I've had. Kids menu is lacking and they charge full price for kids drinks which makes it a bit family unfriendly, but the food is excellent. Maybe including kids drinks with the meals would make it better for families. That said ambience and food are superb.

Went there for lunch on Saturday....and went back again on Sunday! It's that good. The fish and chips are the best I've ever had, and I was born in London. Order them but do yourself a favor and also get a side of the seasonal veg- you won't be disappointed!

We've been there twice now, and will definitely be going back. Food was delicious, service was friendly and quick. The chicken and Brie pie was excellent, and I'm told the fish and chips were great. Salad dressing is just wonderful. Highly recommend Jacks.

Really enjoyed this place! It has very authentic British-style food but lots to choose from for everybody. I had the bangers and mash - very tasty. Fish and chips were also really good (FYI it is a giant piece of fish, not smaller pieces like you might be expecting - and also, read the "newspaper" it's served in, very funny). Highly recommended!
